Called Corbet's Couloir for the mountaineer who first spotted the vertigo-inducing drop, it boasts 4,139 vertical (and continuous) feet and has been called the scariest ski slope in America.

The gondola will ferry you up to the dizzying summit, giving spectacular views of the stunning Wyoming landscape along the way.

The base elevation at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is 6,311, and the elevation at the summit is 10,450.

As you approach Corbet's Couloir, you'll see that the brink is partially cordoned off and dotted with warning signs.

It is, after all, the edge of a cliff.

The minimal wire barrier and signage doesn't keep thrill-seekers and fascinated gawkers from the edge of the perilous precipice, however.

Not everyone who takes the tram to Corbet's Couloir intends on skiing it. Many are there just to experience looking into the abyss and to watch other more daring souls take the leap.
