Catch Your Own Supper And Sleep In A Teepee At This Native American-Themed Wyoming Resort
Cody Wyoming Trout Ranch offers a unique camping experience with teepees along the Shoshone River, perfect for fishing and outdoor adventures.
The adventuresome at heart don't dream of getting away to a luxury spa where they'll sleep until noon and have room service at their beck and call. They'd rather catch their own food, cook it over an open fire, and have the glittering Wyoming night sky be the last thing they see before they close their eyes at bedtime.
If that sounds like your kind of vacation, then you'll want to book reservations at the Cody Trout Ranch. Yes, it is an actual trout farm, but it's also a resort where you can sleep in a teepee and hook your own brookie to cook up over the campfire. It's certain to be an adventure like no other, and one you'll find only in Wyoming.
The Cody Wyoming Trout Ranch is hiding a delightful secret: a little village of teepees along the river where you can rough it in style.
You'll find the Cody Wyoming Trout Ranch at 4727 Powell Highway about 6 miles northeast of Cody.
It's right along the Shoshone River, which has long been known as a fisherman's dream.
The ranch specializes in raising seven species of trout that thrive in Wyoming rivers, including delicious brook trout.
However, it's also become a popular camping resort, where visitors can spend the night in a close-to-authentic teepee.
Structures like these served as living quarters for Native Americans over a century ago. Though spacious, they weren't necessarily furnished like the ones at the Cody Wyoming Trout Ranch.
Though you'll have to walk a bit to get to the restroom and shower facilities, the teepees themselves are more than comfortable and completely outfitted with sofas, chairs, tables, beds, and heaters for the chillier nights.
Each teepee has its own patio overlooking the Shoshone River flowing dreamily by.
There's guaranteed fishing, too, but not in the Shoshone. Instead, take your bait and pole over to the fully-stocked trout pond and catch yourself a mess of fish, then head back to the teepee where you can cook them over your campfire.
Didn't get a Wyoming fishing license? No problem - guests at the ranch can fish in the pond there without one.
After dinner, linger by the fire pit, singing songs or sharing stories...
...before retiring to your teepee and allowing the gentle sound of the river lull you to sleep.
Have you stayed in the teepees at the Cody Trout Ranch? Is there another themed resort in Wyoming that's your favorite?
