Grand Teton National Park and its neighbor to the north, Yellowstone National Park - both in Wyoming - are some of the most popular destinations in the country with Grand Teton receiving over 3.2 million visitors a year and Yellowstone welcoming almost four million visitors annually. If you come to the Cowboy State to take in the beauty of these sprawling parks, you'll of course need someplace to stay at night. Jackson and the surrounding Jackson Hole area have countless lodges and bed and breakfasts along the Snake River to choose from during your time in northwestern Wyoming. Check out this list of some of the best riverside getaways near Jackson, Wyoming.
1. Triangle X Ranch
Located roughly 30 minutes north of Jackson as well as within Grand Teton National Park itself, Triangle X Ranch was opened in 1926 and is operated by the same family to this day. The property includes 20 authentic Jackson Hole log cabins from decades past for guests to stay in; the cabins have been updated with many modern amenities and are named for families of guests that have stayed at the ranch in the past. (Note that the cabins have no WiFi or television so, as the site explains, you can "enjoy the true traditional dude ranch experience.") Visitors to the ranch can partake in such activities as horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and hiking. Meals are included in the price of your room and are served three times a day in the Main House, the first building built on the property. Note that peak season for the ranch is between the second week of June and the end of August so if you want a better deal on your stay be sure to book outside of this timeframe. For more information check out the ranch’s website or the property’s Facebook page.
2. Bentwood Inn
This property, made out of reclaimed wood from Yellowstone’s 1988 fire, is located 11 minutes (or six miles) west of Jackson in the town of Wilson. The inn has several rooms such as the 650-square-foot Grand Teton Master Suite which features a full kitchen, a bedroom separated from the suite by a sliding barn door, and access to a private stone patio; also on offer is the second-floor King room which features a wooded view, a fireplace, a bathroom with a Jacuzzi, and a painted writing desk. Included with your room is breakfast - which features coffee made from locally-roasted beans, fresh fruit, homemade bread, and an item from the griddle - and nightly hors d’oeuvres. For an extra fee you can also have a four-course dinner in the inn’s bistro. If you’d like to get out and explore the area be sure to take advantage of the Bentwood’s cruiser bikes and snowshoes which can be used free of charge or their e-bikes which can be rented for an additional fee. For more information, check out the inn’s website or the property’s Facebook page.
3. Teton View Bed and Breakfast
This bed and breakfast is located ten minutes from Grand Teton National Park and accepts guests from late May to September. The owners, Franz and Carol, have hosted tourists at Teton View since 1997 and love to share their knowledge of the Jackson Hole area and of the national parks in the area. Accommodation choices here include - but are not limited to - the Bear Den Suite, a two-room suite perfect for small families; the Cabin, a 500-square-foot, one-bedroom cabin with a private deck and parking space, a BBQ grill, and a wood-burning stove for extra warmth; and an actual sheep-herder’s wagon. The "breakfast" part of this bed and breakfast features rotating daily entrees like orange-pecan French toast and specialty omelets; fresh-fruit platters, baked goods, and granola; and fresh-ground coffee and juices to wash it all down. Amenities at Teton View include Internet access, free parking, a fridge and microwave for guest use, and a coffee-and-tea bar. Guests may check in between 4 and 6 p.m. and must check out by 11 a.m. No pets are allowed on the B&B’s property. For more information check out Teton View’s website.
