This Quaint Airbnb Is Our Favorite Spot for Exploring Wisconsin’s Most Charming Small Town
This quaint Wisconsin Airbnb cottage is the perfect place to set up base camp for exploring Cornucopia and Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.
The charming, unincorporated village of Cornucopia lies on the Bayfield Peninsula's northwestern shoreline, and to say it's "sleepy" might be a bit of an understatement (especially in the winter). Even so, I think this Lake Superior community is a real charmer that has a lot going for it - especially if you love being outside as much as I do. Even better, I recently came across a quaint Wisconsin Airbnb in Cornucopia that makes a perfect base camp for exploring the village and its surrounding area.
Cornucopia is the northernmost village in the Badger State, and it's one of the gateway communities for Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. In fact, Meyers Beach and its famous sea caves - the only caves in the park located on the mainland - are just a few minutes northeast of town. In the summer, Cornucopia's marina is bustling with fishing and pleasure craft, as well as tour boats bound for the park's islands. Ehler's General Store has been a retail fixture in the community since 1915 and is thought to be the oldest general store in Wisconsin. Waterfall chasers will appreciate the handful of small waterfalls nearby, as well.
And the best place to use as a launchpad for all your Cornucopia adventures is this quaint Airbnb cottage on Bark Point. With two bedrooms, one bath, and a ton of character in this rental, you and up to three additional guests will find yourselves quite happy during a stay at "Corny Cottage."
The common areas are bright, open, and well-appointed with comfortable furniture for a morning or evening of relaxing. Television and Wi-Fi are available if you feel you need them. The cozy kitchen is designed to feel much larger than it is, boasting modern appliances, center island seating, and huge windows that open up the space.
Speaking of windows, just about every room in the cottage boasts a view of the Big Lake, and the large, three-season porch is the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors with a little protection from the weather. But on those gorgeous nights when the waves are slapping the shore and the stars are so bright you can almost read by them, there's nothing better than a lakeside bonfire.
Whether you're in Cornucopia for a quick weekend or a week-long retreat from the everyday, you won't do much better than this quaint Wisconsin Airbnb cottage.
