Looking for a quick hike with a big payoff? Then you’ll definitely want to check out Lost Creek Falls Trail. Hidden on the Bayfield Peninsula, the short trail leads straight to a beautiful waterfall — but not just any waterfall. You can actually walk behind the fall at the end of this hike, making for one unforgettable trek. Take a look:
The Bayfield Peninsula may not be the first place that comes to mind when looking for waterfalls, but it’s actually home to several impressive falls — including Lost Creek Falls.
Tucked away in the small community of Cornucopia at the northern end of the peninsula, Lost Creek Falls is pretty remote. Luckily, there’s a trail that leads straight to the majestic wonder.
Short and sweet, the hike to the waterfall is 1.5 miles each way, making for a 3-mile round-trip.
The path winds through a wooded area and across two bridges.
Toward the end of the trail, you’ll come across a foot path, which leads straight down to Lost Creek Falls.
At 8 feet in height, the waterfall may not be huge, but it sure is stunning.
A wide open area at the base of the waterfall allows for easy-access and close-up views.
Only adding to the waterfall’s allure is the fact that you can walk behind it, which is pretty uncommon for waterfalls around Lake Superior.
