You’ll Never Forget An Overnight In This Old Fire Tower In West Virginia
The Thorny Mountain Fire Tower in Seneca State Forest offers a unique rental experience with unparalleled 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains.
Fire towers were once found all over West Virginia as lookouts to spot forest fires. As new aircraft and satellite technology was developed, they fell out of use, and many of the old towers were abandoned. However, there is one special tower in West Virginia that's been restored and is now available to rent for the night.
The Thorny Mountain Fire Tower once served as a lookout for fires in the Seneca State Forest.
The tower was removed from service in 1988, but as of last year, it's been available for visitors to rent.
There are 69 steps to reach the room above the forest.
The room is sparse, but the view is unparalleled.
The windows provide a 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains.
You can also step outside on the deck to feel the wind in your hair.
The fire tower is available through October.
This looks like an amazing place to see the leaves change color!
