There are so many great options for fun overnight getaways around West Virginia. From country cottages to mountain retreats, waterfront properties to cozy cabins, there are getaways aplenty in West Virginia! But the one we're featuring today has one of the best views of them all. Sneak away to Bluestone State Park to see for yourself!

Nestled in the mountains beside Bluestone Lake near Hinton, West Virginia, you'll find Bluestone State Park.

This gem of a park is perfect for an active family vacation or a quiet getaway. Bluestone Lake, the third-largest body of water in West Virginia, is formed by the Bluestone Dam just downstream of the confluence of the New and Bluestone Rivers.

The lake provides an array of water activities, including fishing and kayaking and more than 8 miles of trails range through the surrounding hills.

There is a boat ramp if you bring your own vessel or you can rent boats, kayaks, and canoes at the Bluestone marina. Other attractions at Bluestone Lake include games, picnicking, a playground and wading area for younger kids, and weekly nature and family activities put on by staff during the summer.

In the evening, you can retreat to one of the park's 26 cabins.

Relax, light a fire in the beautiful stone fireplace (firewood provided!), and enjoy the dusk fall.

The cabins are rustic but comfortable, with well furnished kitchens and comfortable living rooms.

But If you prefer to bring your own lodging, camping facilities are also available.

In addition to these amenities, when you stay in Bluestone State Park, you have access to Pipestem Resort's indoor pool and sauna just down the road.

While all the cabins are modern, comfortable, and provide a restful and private setting, cabins 1, 2, and 6 have an extra special feature: a view of the lake, gorge, and mountains out the window.

It's a beautiful sight year round that you don't want to miss.
