Washington overflows with campsites and camping opportunities. So you usually can find an amazing campsite, whether it is near a beach, lake, or deep in the mountains. But for a truly one-of-a-kind experience, try a night in an old-fashioned covered wagon. The unique experience takes visitors back to simpler times, but without being too rustic. So head over to the KOA Kampground in the North Cascades for an amazing trip.

The Winthrop/N. Cascades National Park KOA is located near the base of the North Cascades National Park. This area is in the north central part of Washington State, which is about equal distance from Seattle and Spokane. So you will want to make a weekend trip out of a visit here.

The campground is within the city limits of Winthrop. This Old West town offers eateries and shops fashioned in the early Western tradition. So for a trip back in time, you will definitely want to check out this cool town!

Similar to the town it's located in, the Winthrop KOA Kampground offers accommodations reminiscent of the early Western tradition. That's right! You can stay in in one of the campsite's Conestoga Wagons.

While covered wagons may seem rustic, these accommodations are comfortable. Each has a king bed and a bunk bed set. Linens are provided, and a small table is also inside. But do note there is no kitchen or bathroom inside the wagon. But that's to be expected when camping.

With sleeping for four, the covered wagon is perfect for a small family. So bring the kids and be sure to enjoy all the family-friendly amenities at the campsite.

When you venture outside of your wagon, you will be surrounded by the beauty of nature. Sit by the peaceful river, or enjoy one of the multiple biking, hiking, and horseback riding opportunities in the nearby area.

Big bonus! The campground has a heated pool that's open mid-May through mid-October, dependent on weather. So don't forget to pack your swimsuit.
