Cama Beach State Park on Camano Island offers rustic waterfront cabins and a peaceful, historic atmosphere.
Are you the camping type, or do you prefer to have a roof over your head? If you ever visit Cama Beach State Park, you can have a little bit of both. In addition to the long stretch of rocky shoreline, you'll find plenty of cozy cabins available for an overnight getaway.
Cama Beach State Park is located on Camano Island.
Camano is about an hour north of Seattle, but you'll feel like you're in another world.
Not only is this place peaceful, but you'll feel like you've stepped into the past.
The park was a fishing resort in the 1930s, peaking in popularity in the 1950s.
These days, the park is run by the state, and it's pleasant and charming.
The property includes a couple of bungalows and 24 waterfront cedar cabins.
The cabins are rustic, but they have everything you'll need.
Each cabin has a living room, kitchen area and bedroom. They all have electric heat and lights, refrigerators, and microwaves. A contemporary bathhouse with restrooms and showers is behind the row of cabins.
A few deluxe cabins are also available, which have full bathrooms and sleep up to four.
Rates start at just $87 per night, making them some of the most affordable waterfront accommodations in the state.
In the morning, you can head right over to the Cama Beach Cafe and enjoy a piping hot breakfast.
The cafe opens at 8 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The food at the cafe is absolutely delicious -- in fact, this company is the top caterer on Camano Island.
Their catering menus include everything from cocktail party fare to mouthwatering taco bars.
Needless to say, it gets pretty crowded here in the summertime. But in the off season, it's nice and quiet.
Cama Beach is open year-round, so you can check it out anytime.
