The Wayside Inn in Virginia, known for its historic charm and paranormal activity, offers a unique travel experience.
Would you ever sleep in an accommodation that was rumored to be haunted? If this idea entices you, then you may be tempted to book a stay at the historic Wayside Inn. Located in the heart of downtown Middletown, this hotel has been around for decades. In fact, it's considered to be "America's First Motor Inn." With so much history comes a healthy dose of paranormal activity, too. Let's just say you might just get a little more than you bargained for when you spend the night at the Wayside Inn.
Nestled in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, the Wayside Inn sure is charming. Upon first glance, you'd hardly know that this landmark has a notoriously haunted reputation.
The building has been around since 1797, serving travelers through the region by providing entertainment, dining, and accommodations.
One of the areas of the inn known as the "Old Kitchen" was a former stagecoach that was built in 1742.
Such extensive history often equates to a handful of hauntings, and the Wayside Inn sure has its fair share of them.
Guests and employees alike have reported certain cold spots throughout the hotel, the main one being in the lobby right next to the fireplace.
Others have reported seeing a woman appearing in a blue dress and high collar, as though she emerged from a different time period altogether.
The Wayside Inn, which has served as other landmarks throughout the building's existence, housed both Union and Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. Therefore, these walls have certainly seen their fair share of tragedy and suffering.
Fortunately, most of the paranormal spirits encountered here seem to be friendly. So if you're intrigued by the idea of a haunted inn, you might just find what you're looking for at the Wayside Inn.
