This Virginia Airbnb Has the Most Underrated Fishing Spot

With more than 100 lakes and dozens more rivers and streams, Virginia is a fishing paradise. Lake Anna and Smith Mountain Lake are popular fishing destinations in Old Dominion. There are many, however, that are lesser known but absolutely amazing. The Holston River flows hundreds of miles through Virginia, from the Blue Ridge Mountains into Tennessee. It passes through Marion, Virginia, an excellent place to fish for trout. We've found a luxurious cabin Airbnb in Marion, Virginia, situated on the banks of the Holston River, where guests enjoy a front-row seat to some of the best fishing in the state.

The Holston River Lodge is a three-bedroom cabin Airbnb that accommodates up to eight guests. The home sits on two acres of pristine Virginia land and 1250 feet of Holston River banks. Guests are steps away from the river, which ranges in depth from mere inches to more than 10 feet. Swimming, wading, and fishing in the river are encouraged. In addition to trout, guests may catch smallmouth bass, carp, and brim.

The Airbnb cabin is beautiful, inside and out. There's also a fire pit, perfect for roasting s'mores and telling ghost stories, and a hammock, where you can read a novel or take a nap. Inside, there is a selection of books and board games.

Several activities are just a short drive away from the cabin, including horseback riding, miniature golf, and zip-lining. Marion has one of Virginia's best main streets, where you can enjoy art galleries, restaurants, antique shops, and the Lincoln Theatre. A small town state park, Hungry Mother State Park, has a 108-acre lake and more than 17 miles of hiking trails. Downtown Marion also has two local breweries: 36° Fifty Brewing and Headspace Brewing Company.

After a full day of incredible adventures, guests can get a restful night's sleep at the Holston River Lodge. It has three bedrooms.
