This Scenic Vrbo Is the Perfect Home Base for Shenandoah National Park

I didn't think much about U.S. national parks until I visited Shenandoah National Park. It was the park that sparked an interest that has taken me all over the United States. A weeklong view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with their lush, thriving forests and hazy blue peaks, was all it took for the park to steal my heart and pique an intense curiosity about America's other parks. We especially loved hiking and the numerous overlooks along Skyline Drive during our visit to Virginia's largest national park. The cabin has panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which can be enjoyed from the spacious covered front porch and outdoor bench swing. This Vrbo has a long list of nearby attractions and activities. Luray, Virginia, is a small town with plentiful nature adventures. There are opportunities for birding, canoeing, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and rafting. Guests won't have to go far to enjoy a water park, golf course, or winery, either.

Luray Caverns is a must-see natural attraction in the area. Its natural rock formations formed more than four million years ago. Visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour or a guided tour that highlights the caverns' history.

The Hawksbill Retreat is approximately 20 minutes from Shenandoah National Park. The 200,000-acre park has stunning waterfalls, breathtaking overlooks, and vibrant wildflowers. It boasts over 500 miles of hiking trails. Several of the trails lead to waterfalls, including the Browns Gap, Dark Hollow Falls, and Lewis Falls Trails. One of the best parts of this park is the Sugarloaf Loop, a five-mile loop that's often overlooked. The park's four visitor centers offer interesting exhibits about the area's land and history.
