Explore Vermont’s Back Country During The Day Then Fall Asleep In A Cozy Hut At Night

If you enjoy spending quality time in nature, I suggest heading to Vermont for a memorable recreational experience such as one led by The Vermont Huts Association. Based in Stowe, this non-profit is taking charge of creating opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts to get immersed in nature by mountain biking from one destination to another along the proposed Velomont Trail. This planned project will span nearly 500 miles and give adventure-seekers direct access to stunning trails during the day and adorable huts to stay in at night. Read on to learn about this epic project that's proposed to be the largest of its kind in the country.

This charming hut is the initial one built as part of this project. Aside from being based in the Chittenden Brook Campground and surrounded by the Green Mountain National Forest, it's energy efficient and conducive for small groups.

Although the proposed trail is designed as an accessible mountain trail, it's open to cross-country skiers and hikers as well.

Each hut along the route is also ADA-compliant.

Another goal of this ambitious project is to conserve over 200,000 acres of land throughout the Green Mountain State.

As outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the trail, they'll also zip through small towns scattered throughout Vermont, providing economic opportunities to local businesses too.

Within the next 10 years or so, the project intends to grow the number of huts along the trail with 30 -45 shelters slated to be built.

We think another benefit to this outdoor recreational experience is that the trail will be open throughout the year!
