One Of The Best Campgrounds In Texas Is Open For Adventure Year-Round

There are lots of year-round campgrounds in Texas, but some of them have far more amenities than others. One of my favorites is Thousand Trails Colorado River, located in the Houston area. Convenient for travelers and jam-packed with activities for all ages to enjoy, this sprawling campground is a haven for RV and tent campers alike (it also offers cabins!). Whether you use it as a stopping point on a road trip or as your final destination, Thousand Trails promises an unforgettable overnight stay.

Camping season never ends in Texas - especially at Thousand Trails Colorado River.

This spacious campground is located just an hour west of Houston and features both RV and tent sites as well as cozy cabins.

The RV sites accommodate RVs up to 50' long and feature 30-amp electric and water. 50-amp and sewer are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cabins sleep between four and six guests, and one of them is pet-friendly. The tent sites are shaded, but primitive (no bathhouse).

What truly sets this campground apart is its beautiful surroundings.

Lush pecan groves and bright green meadows extend as far as the eye can see in all directions, making you feel like you've entered Eden right here on earth.

Guests have access to a wide range of amenities, including a beautiful pool area...

...plus an indoor hot tub, so you can enjoy a relaxing soak no matter what season it is.

Other amenities include an activity center, outdoor games such as horseshoes, a playground, laundry and restroom/shower facilities, mini golf, Wi-Fi, and more.

The campground also offers direct access to the beautiful Colorado River, plus hike and bike trails, fishing, and a dog park.

There are even on-site church services!

With the forested landscape and nearby water source, it should come as no surprise that the campground is rife with wildlife.

From deer to squirrels to birds, you never know what creatures you'll see roaming around.

Visit the Thousand Trails website or the Thousand Trails Facebook page for more information about the campground, including current availability.
