Book This Dreamy Campsite Along Texas’ Majestic James and Llano Rivers and You Won’t Be Disappointed
Create new memories with your family, while swimming, fishing, paddling, and more, at this amazing riverfront campground in Texas
What kind of camper are you? Do you like primitive camping in the wilderness, fully immersed in the elements, or would you rather have a glamorous experience with modern conveniences? If I am honest, I would choose the latter. While I enjoy being in nature, I prefer a comfortable space to rest. Can you blame me for wanting the best of both worlds? Luckily, there is a hidden gem campground in Texas where I don’t have to sacrifice my comforts, and neither do you. Nestled on the confluence of the Llano River and the James River is Dos Rios RV Park. This waterfront campsite in Texas might be one of Hill Country's dreamiest destinations.
Forty miles north of Fredericksburg in the town of Mason, your next Texas Hill Adventure awaits you. Tucked neatly on 20 acres on the banks of the scenic Llano River, Dios Rios RV Park is a family-friendly and pet-friendly camping oasis. With over 20 lodging options with electricity, water, and modern conveniences, you’ll find the perfect spot to suit your needs.
Do you like glamping in a stylish tiny home or a rustic cabin? You can find that here. Want to bring your own RV or spend the night in a vintage Airstream? You can do that, too. Have a large group? There’s a bunkhouse here that sleeps eight. How about sleeping in the arms of nature in a primitive tent or, better yet, a waterfront off-grid-style pod? Yes, you’ll find that and more at this dreamy slice of heaven.
While you can’t go wrong with any of the sites at Dos Rios, Site 1, the Riverfront Jupe safari-like pod, is the ultimate spot. This modern Jupe tent is made with style and comfort in mind. Sleep in a comfy queen bed, with air conditioning, LED lights, and solar-powered electricity. The stylish tent accommodates two, but there is room for two additional tents on the site. So, pack the tents and camping gear, and invite up to eight of your friends and family to enjoy your riverfront oasis. Other amenities include a fire pit, potable water, hot showers, and Wi-Fi.
Imagine rising each morning to the most stunning views of the turquoise waterways while listening to the gentle stream flow. This sounds like the best way for me to start the day. The balcony on the Jupe is the perfect spot for your coffee, or you can sit at the picnic bench and soak up the morning sunshine.
After your morning brew, create new memories with your friends and family as you partake in all the fun activities by the river. Here, you can swim, kayak, canoe, enjoy a lazy tube float, or try stand-up paddleboarding. Your family (especially the little ones) will love cliff-jumping into the crystal-clear waters of the river. If you’re an angler, you’ll be happy to know that the rivers are stocked with rainbow trout, bass, and catfish. What’s more? Explore the 20-acre island across from the campsite and soak up the sun on the private beach.
Certainly, you can easily spend an entire day by the calm waters, but I’d recommend venturing out and exploring the area. In the spring and summer, plan a road trip to see the pretty little wildflowers that light up the Texas Hill countryside. Or if you’re staying from May to September, take the kids to see millions of bats at the Eckert James River Bat Cave Preserve. The limestone bat cave is one of the largest nurseries in the US, so you don’t want to miss seeing it.
Consider Katemcy Rocks, an off-roading, family-friendly adventure park for more fun. There are also several wineries and great restaurants in Mason, so you’ll have plenty to see and do in town.
The best part? After your fun-filled day, return to your campsite and experience a magical night. Light a campfire, grab your marshmallows, perhaps a glass of wine, and gaze at the pretty night sky. Your adventures in the Texas Hill Country are endless. And you won’t be disappointed when you visit the Hipcamp listing to book your stay at Dos Rios RV Park, the best waterfront campground in Texas.
