The Crockett Hotel, located just 18 steps from the Alamo, can also be added to the list. Guests have reported all sorts of strange occurrences, including seeing the uniform-clad apparitions of soldiers who fought in the infamous Battle of the Alamo. Constructed on a portion of the Alamo combat zone in 1909, the Crockett Hotel is a downtown San Antonio landmark.

Just 18 steps from the site of the bloodiest battle in Texas history, the hotel is deeply intertwined with the city's war-torn past.

While the hotel underwent a massive renovation in 1982, every bit of its historic charm still remains.

The main purpose of the renovation was to expand the hotel, which now boasts a whopping 138 guest rooms on seven floors.

They say first impressions are everything, and you'll be blown away at the intricate architectural details in the lobby.

Exuding old-fashioned opulence, the hotel is a relic of a bygone era - and the furnishings aren't all that's left over from the past.

Regular guests and paranormal enthusiasts alike have reported unexplained phenomena in the hotel, from cold drafts to orbs showing up in family photographs.

Still other occurrences include folks hearing the sound of horses plodding down the hallway, and even getting stuck in the elevator as it goes up and down with an apparent mind of its own.

Drinks aren't the only spirits you'll encounter at Ernie's Bar, which, along with the lobby, is the most haunted room in the building.

As you sip on Texas-crafted vodka or whiskey, don't be surprised if that friendly stranger you were just talking to disappears when you turn your head.

Those who have been lucky (or unlucky, we should say) enough to spot an actual ghost almost always claim the apparition was dressed in a dark blue uniform - presumably that of a Texas Revolution soldier.

What remains unknown, however, is which side of the fight the specter once belonged to, as well as how exactly he died in battle.
