You Can Sleep and Visit Alpacas at This Airbnb in Tennessee
Discover one of Tennessee’s coziest stays: a lovely Airbnb on a working alpaca farm surrounded by mountain views.
These days, travel seems action-packed—we're wired to see and do as much as possible with our limited time away. But what if instead of doing so much, we focused on the opposite: simply being? Fortunately, Tennessee offers plenty of places geared toward slow travel, and I think I've found the perfect spot for this: an Airbnb on a working alpaca farm. So pack your bags with all your comfiest clothes, a few good books, and a sense of adventure; we're going to Thunder Mountain Acres!
Driving up to this stunning property, you'll immediately feel yourself ease into vacation mode. Even the drive into the property is picture-perfect, with wide-open fields greeting you and beautiful rolling mountains in the distance. Thunder Mountain Acres is located in Pikeville, Tennessee, and can accommodate up to four guests, although it may be most comfortable for two. There's one bedroom, two beds, and one full bath. But that's just the beginning—this darling Airbnb goes far beyond your average vacation rental.
Inside, it's clean, cozy, and comfortable. It's got a traditional cabin aesthetic with lots of modern updates, and there's everything you need to feel right at home. In terms of amenities, you can expect a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, TV, bathtub, and an indoor fireplace.
But the best amenity of all is waiting for you outside: your friendly welcome committee of adorable alpacas! You're invited to stroll the property, admiring the friendly alpacas as they wander their fenced meadow. A visit with these lovely animals can be arranged with your Airbnb host, who must be present. For the safety of yourself and the animals, wandering into the pasture or any farm building is not permitted. A small additional fee may apply to alpaca encounters or private farm tours, but by all accounts, it's worth it!
If you are in the mood for an activity, Fall Creek Falls State Park is just 25 minutes away. Boasting some incredible waterfalls, it's the perfect place to spend a few hours immersed in nature. The most popular hiking area is the Gorge Overlook and Woodland Trail, a three-mile loop that takes you to some of the most stunning falls in the park.
