This Amazing South Dakota Campground Is The Perfect Place To Pitch Your Tent

What are your weekend plans? It's easy to let the best summer weekends slip right by you, so next weekend, plan a trip to reconnect with nature. The Richmond Lake Recreation Area, in the northern portion of the state, has a nice campground where you can pitch your tent and make memories that will last a lifetime.

You'll find the Richmond Lake Recreation Area northwest of Aberdeen, near State Route 281.

Richmond Lake covers 829 acres and reaches depths of 29 feet. It's perfect for swimming, fishing and boating.

Fish right off the dock - it's even handicapped accessible. You might catch walleye, Northern pike, bass, perch, crappie and more.

The campground includes 24 sites. Two are tent-only; the other 22 are for RV or tents. Campsites include electricity, picnic tables and fire pits. The campground has vault toilets, drinking water and a dump station.

You can also camp overnight in the cabin, which sleeps 4-5 people and has beds, heating, A/C and electricity.

The campground is surrounded by trees, making it nice and shady on a hot, summer day.

Play a game of disc golf. You'll walk two miles through the recreation area for this 18-hole course.

Watch for deer - they're plentiful around here.

The kids will love the playground equipment.

Enjoy a beautiful sunset, then wake up the next morning and play some more!
