History Meets Modern Luxury At The Dean Hotel In Rhode Island

We love preserving history here in Rhode Island, and there's certainly a lot to preserve. We're continually amazed by the renovations and renewal of downtown Providence, especially The Dean Hotel. This hip, modern space in a historic setting is absolutely fantastic, and it's proof you don't even have to leave Rhode Island to have a stellar vacation.

The hotel opened in 2014, but the history here goes back much farther. This building was constructed in 1912 as a shelter run by the Episcopal church.

Despite its beginnings, some rather salacious activity occurred here back in the day.

The space operated as several adult entertainment establishments, including a strip club called the Sportsman's Inn.

But these days, all you'll find here is peace, relaxation, great food and fantastic hospitality.

Rooms range from single bunk beds meant for two to the spacious Guardian Suite, and they're all reasonably priced.

Each room is decked out in framed art work and timeless accessories.

The look here is definitely both historic and modern, old school meets new school.

The on-site restaurant, North, serves local cuisine in a non-traditional setting.

You can take some delicious takeout straight to your room for a private dinner party.

The hotel bar, The Dean Bar, is currently closed to sit-down guests due to current conditions -- but you can get drinks and cocktail kits to-go.

There's even an intimate karaoke lounge called The Boombox that will be reopening post-covid.
