Rhode Island’s Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel Should Be Your Next Staycation
The Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel offers a luxurious staycation experience with a rich history and modern amenities.
No matter how much you love your home, there comes a point where you'll feel the need for a change of scenery, even a local one. And while the only places Rhode Islanders are currently exploring are their own backyards, there will come a day when we're welcome to travel again. And when that time comes, we highly suggest relaxing and recharging at a luxury hotel. The Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel is a perfect pick for a staycation.
First of all, this building has a fantastic history. It was constructed in 1927 and meant to be used as a meeting hall for the Freemasons.
But when the financial crisis hit in 1929, construction was halted. When World War II started, construction was stopper permanently, and the building was abandoned.
This magnificent building sat empty for 75 years until it became the Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel, which opened in 2006.
The building is now on the National Register of Historic Places under Masonic Temple.
The hotel became a symbol for rebirth in the Providence community.
It's now one of the most high end hotels in the city, hosting weddings and numerous other formal events each year.
While the space is very modern, it also has the opulence of the 1920s.
And needless to say, the rooms and suites here are extraordinarily comfortable.
When it's time to escape for a weekend of pampering, this is the perfect destination.
And while you certainly won't have to leave the property to have a great stay, some of Rhode Island’s most famous attractions (and plenty of places to eat and shop) are just a short walk away.
Should you choose to make it a true staycation and stick around, enjoy a meal at the onsite eatery, Public Kitchen & Bar.
You can also grab a nightcap at The Avery, a stylish bar and lounge.
Providence remains one of New England's top destinations of choice, and this hotel makes a great home base.
You can expect to spend around $300 per night on a reservation here, but the pampering and relaxation make it all worth it.
Have you ever stayed at this luxury hotel? If not, it may be time to make some future plans.
