Boyce Park Log Cabin Trail, A 2.9-Mile Hike Near Pittsburgh, Takes You Through A Beautiful Wooded Area

Pittsburgh boasts so many amazing places to hike that it would probably take us years to explore all of the trails. Today, let's set off on a trail near Pittsburgh that sits in the popular Boyce Park, probably best known for its skiing, snow tubing, and other winter activities. Within its lush acreage, however, the park also features more than a dozen trails, ideal for hiking, jogging, and even biking.

Lace up your hiking boots or a pair of sturdy shoes for your hike along the Boyce Park Log Cabin Trail, tucked among 1,096 lush acres, predominately in Plum.

The 2.9-acre trail, considered easy to moderate, starts off at the Carpenter Log House, where you'll also find a parking lot.

If you prefer using a map when you hike, check the mailbox near the log cabin. Oftentimes, hikers will find copies of a detailed map they can take from the mailbox.

Before you set off, if you're hiking in the spring or in the summer, put on plenty of insect repellent.

Stroll along the picturesque trail that will take you past vibrantly-colored wildflowers, over quaint footbridges, and along flowing streams.

However, be prepared for some challenges along the way - including hills and uneven terrain. Expect muddy conditions if you hike the trail after a rainfall.

If you like wandering off the main trail, you'll discover plenty of side trails that allow you to explore more of Boyce Park.
