It's great to get away from the stress of everyday life and take a vacation, but often when we take a break, we end up spending hours on the Internet or watching mindless TV. If you truly want to relax and recharge, put down your phone and laptop, and turn off the TV so you can unwind without distraction. McMenamins Edgefield Historic Hotel is just the place to do that; its rooms don't have Internet or TV! As you'll soon see, it is also one of the best pool hotels in Oregon.
Welcome to McMenamins Edgefield Historic Hotel in Troutdale! This beautifully restored property was built in 1911, and it's just waiting for you to check in and unwind.
The property encompasses 74 acres in the Columbia River Gorge area, and it was once used as the county poor house. Today, it's a stunning retreat spot.
The main building offers more than 100 guest rooms, each furnished with early 1900s decor and cozy beds. You'll find everything you need to be comfortable - but you won't find a TV in your room, and there's no Internet service here, either.
You will find Internet access in the library, and the Black Rabbit Restaurant, as well as a few of the event spaces on the property.
Wondering what you'll do without TV or Internet? There's plenty to keep you busy here while you unwind. Play a round of golf on one of the two par-three golf courses.
Take a stroll through the acres and acres of gardens on the property. You'll find an herb garden, vegetable gardens, fir grove, and more.
Catch a movie at the Power Station Theater. This building once housed the boiler room at the poor farm; now it's a gorgeous theater that shows new release movies.
Visit the distillery and its bar, where you can enjoy a classic cocktail made with the distillery's own brandy, gin, and whiskey.
Dining options include the Black Rabbit Bar, the Little Red Shed, Loading Dock Grill, and Jerry's Ice House, and you can sip wine at the Winery Tasting Room, or enjoy a cup of tea at Tea House.
Lucky Staehly's Pool Hall also has a menu full of tasty bar food, and plenty of pool tables for an afternoon of fun. It was named after a colorful resident who lived here in the 1970s, when the property was an old folks' home.
Visit Ruby's Spa, where you can indulge in all kinds of pampering. Indulge in a massage, facial, or mani/pedi, and enjoy a soak in the outdoor heated, saltwater soaking pool.
After you've enjoyed the activities, you'll want to just sit and relax in a rocking chair on the veranda. See? You don't miss the Internet nearly as much as you thought you would!
