This Snowy Ohio Cabin Is the Coziest Winter Escape

Stone Lake Lodge, a snow-covered cabin in Ohio's West Lafayette village, is an incredible winter getaway.

Ohio is a true treat — with plains, beaches, rolling hills, forested wild lands, and a smidgen of the Appalachian Plateau, the Buckeye State is delightfully diverse. You could easily spend one day stretched on a beach and exploring sand dunes before retiring in a snow-covered cabin... There's just no shortage of beauty here, and wintertime only emphasizes the quiet splendor of our state. Today, we're going to visit one snow-covered cabin in Ohio that's overflowing with charm. With a hot tub and firepit, you can enjoy some cozy winter nights under the stars in between days filled with hiking.

West Lafayette is a quaint village in Ohio with some 2,000 residents, and they've kept the area as a closely-guarded secret. This Coshocton County community was first laid out in 1850, and it was once hailed as the Enamel Center of the World in a pre-plastic era. Today, it remains quaint and cozy, and the locals are amazingly friendly.

One of the most scenic regions in West Lafayette is Stone Lake, a spring-fed pool that sits surrounded by forested rolling hills. This is where your vacation will unfold, right in the gorgeous Stone Lake Lodge.

With nine beds and the ability to accommodate up to 12 guests, this convivial little getaway combines luxury and rustic charm. The heart of this space is its living room with its vaulted ceiling and one unique light: a canoe! This chandelier is unlike anything you've ever seen before, and its placement right above the indoor fireplace allows you to admire its splendor as you're cozying up and avoiding the winter chill.

Of course, when you're ready to embrace the frigid winter air, there's a fire pit and hot tub waiting to greet you outside of Stone Lake Lodge. Private access to the fully-stocked Stone Lake is also perfect for fans of fishing, but make sure you bring the appropriate gear for the winter weather. If you're itching for more time in nature, Coshocton is just a short 30-minute drive away, and it features amenities like the stunning Woodbury Wildlife Area.

It's understandable if you don't want to venture out of town, though, and there's still plenty to do right in West Lafayette. Raven's Glenn Winery is a fantastic spot for an elegant meal, and its proximity to the Tuscarawas River makes window seats a special treat.

When you retire back to your lodge after your time adventuring, you'll want to take advantage of its luxurious amenities. Its stone-covered walk-in shower is perfect for soaking away aches after you spend time hiking in the surrounding forests.

Though Amish-built furniture decorates the space, you'll enjoy plenty of modern amenities, too. A 70-inch smart TV has entertainment for the whole family, and a video game arcade and wet bar only add to the fun. Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth stereo make it easy to fill your getaway with music and memories.

If you don't mind a bit of extra time in the cold, nothing beats grilling a good meal on their gorgeous deck overlooking Stone Lake.

Whether you come for the deluxe accommodations or the majestic views, Stone Lake Lodge is an incredible winter getaway in Central Ohio. You're going to love exploring the Buckeye State during the winter, and it might just become your new favorite cold weather vacation destination.

While you're in the area, set some time aside to explore the Three Rivers Wine Trail. With six wineries and a brewery all along one convenient route, you'll love sampling Ohio-grown flavors.
