Kite flying is one of the most popular things to do at Jockey’s Ridge State Park. The winds are perfect for it! There are plenty of local shops nearby where you can pick one up and have an old-fashioned day of flying kites. For a more thrilling adventure, a private company located inside the park offers hang gliding tours and sandboard rentals. 

There’s also a one-mile hiking trail, picnic areas, and beach access along Roanoke Sound. One of the best things about the park is that there are no admission fees for Jockey’s Ridge State Park. It’s also a pet-friendly park! Just keep in mind that the summer sun can really heat up the sand, so make sure your pup’s paws are protected.
