Escape to This One-of-a-Kind Marion, North Carolina Airbnb for the Ultimate Fall Getaway
This Airbnb in North Carolina is truly one of a kind, built for a memorable and relaxing getaway.
A memorable getaway starts with a unique place to stay. Whether it's a remote campsite, mountaintop treehouse, historic cabin, or off-grid yurt, a special accommodation is the first step toward a special vacation. We've scoured the web for the most one-of-a-kind stays in North Carolina, and dug up a gem. This handcrafted yurt just off the scenic and serene Blue Ridge Parkway in Marion, North Carolina, has all the elements for an extraordinary fall getaway.
The cozy and comfortable yurt sits on 60 acres of rural mountain land near the Linville Wilderness and Pisgah National Forest. Visitors can take a wooded trail directly from the Airbnb to a little-visited waterfall called Hoot Owl Falls. How often do you get to check out a waterfall so close to where you stay? I think it sounds like a dream!
Nearby are two other incredible waterfalls: Linville Falls and Crabtree Falls. Linville Falls is one of the area's most spectacular waterfalls, created as the Linville River flows down Grandfather Mountain. Crabtree Falls is no less grand, crashing down 1,200 feet over five cascades. It's safe to say that this Airbnb is in the ideal location for waterfall chasers.
The yurt itself is no less unique than its location. It's locally handcrafted and has a central living and sleeping space surrounded by a generously sized deck with gorgeous views. As you step inside, you'll see a luxurious bed with plush bedding in neutral tones. It is a queen-sized bed and has a memory foam mattress for a restful night's sleep. There's also a wooden bench, bookshelf, table, and two chairs inside. Can you imagine falling asleep in the cool fall air and waking up to stunning views of the surrounding forests and mountains?
With such a beautiful deck and stunning views, guests will likely spend as much time outdoors as they do indoors. In the fall, they can enjoy the showstopping fall foliage with its rich shades of autumn. The deck also has a grill and an outdoor table and chairs, making it perfect for preparing and enjoying meals in the fresh air.
The yurt's hosts caution that the Airbnb provides an outdoor camping experience and that guests may encounter bugs and spiders. It has a portable solar battery for charging devices, and although it is not temperature-controlled, it has a propane heater to warm up the space. There is an outhouse with a bathroom and shower for guest use located approximately 100 feet from the Airbnb. The shower is outdoors, available from April to October, and uses rainwater. These facilities are shared with guests from another property.

Marion is one of the most remote small towns in North Carolina, but it has plenty to offer. It has a lively farmer's market, the Marion Tailgate Market, and a moonshine distillery, Copper Creek Distillery. There's also a cave tour at Linville Caverns, where guests can explore an ancient cavern in Humpback Mountain. It's the state's only cavern that's open to the public.
Fall is one of the best times to visit Marion because visitors can enjoy the area's Mountain Glory Festival. This annual October festival features live music, performances, crafts, inflatables, and a variety of children's games and activities.
