The historic Seneca Lodge has been brewing their own craft beer since 2010, but the Watkins Glen, New York hotel, restaurant and brewery's history dates back way further than that. For over 50 years, it has been a staple for outdoor enthusiasts, racing fans and really anyone looking for a nice bite to eat and a cozy place to stay. The addition of a brewery simply made a great place even better. It's quite possibly the coolest craft beer hotel in New York. There's a lot to learn, so keep reading below.
Watkins Glen is a noted destination for car racing enthusiasts. It is the site of the annual NASCAR Cup Series and the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship races. It used to host the Formula One United States Grand Prix and different IndyCar races. Seneca Lodge was built in 1948, right before the first Grand Prix.
Seneca Lodge Brewing has been active since 2010 and cranks out a seasonal variety of beers, which include takes on kolsch, pumpkin ale, oatmeal stout, orange wit and session pale ale.
There is also plenty of food on offer. The lodge's kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
As you can probably tell, there is plenty of history at Seneca Inn, for both motorsports culture and New York State culture at-large. It's been around for over half a century!
You can grab a cabin at the Seneca Lodge for a rustic, All-American stay. We recommend snagging one of their charming A-Frames, which run between $185-205 a night.
There's also a motel on premises—rooms have all modern amenities you could ever want.
Don't forget to buy some beer to commentate your trip!
For a stay—and beer—you won't soon forget, spend a night at the Seneca Lodge. While you are in the area, why not check out this hike in Watkins Glen State Park, which is so good that we think it rivals Zion National Park in Utah. And if you need help packing for your next big road trip, we put together a nice list that might just help you out.
