A new year and a new decade are just around the corner. If traveling, exploring nature, or camping are part of your resolutions, just keep in mind you don’t need to travel far! In fact, you can easily check all three off your to-do list by booking a stay in a yurt right here in New Mexico.
Hyde Memorial State Park is home to some wonderfully gorgeous scenery, hiking trails, and campsites. But did you know you can also book an overnight stay in a yurt here?
Nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains are three yurts available for the perfect off-grid experience.
A yurt is a circular, portable dwelling with roots in central Asia. The ones featured here are modernized versions with insulated walls, windows, and a propane heater to keep you toasty during cold nights.
One of the biggest perks to staying in here? These yurts are the perfect place to unplug from the digital world so you can enjoy a quiet getaway.
The yurts are completely electricity-free, so taking time to enjoy the silence, finish up a book, or just relax are things you can easily do without the distraction of phones and computers.
The yurts are roomy and can easily accommodate up to six guests. They have wooden sleeping platforms with foam mattresses so you don’t have to sleep on the ground.
You will want to bring a sleeping bag or blanket since these are not provided. Don’t forget to bring food that can be cooked outdoors, lanterns and flashlights for the evening, and other necessities for a cozy stay.
Would you want to spend the night in one of the yurts at Hyde Memorial State Park? If you already have, be sure to let us know about your experience!
Hyde Memorial State Park is located about 15 minutes northeast of Santa Fe via State Road 475.
The park is open daily throughout the year. Each yurt costs $80 per night and reservations can be made up to six months in advance. For details, visit the state park website.
