Welcome to wonderfully remote yet easy to access High Country Alpaca Ranch!

This working ranch is part of the growing agritourism business in rural communities, where life on ranches and farms appeal to city dwellers.

Owners John and Carolyn look after the 24 acres of ranch land and a herd of gentle alpaca here.

Stop here for an overnight stay and they'll be happy to share their farming lifestyle with visitors from near and far. You'll have the opportunity to chat with them about raising alpacas, the areas's history, and local attractions.

You'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere when you book a stay here.

The ranch is located along State Road 36, near Pie Town, Quemado, and Fence Lake, so it's a fairly isolated place.

And let's not forget the alpacas!

These soft, fluffy creatures are sweet and friendly, ranging in age from 3 to 14.

You'll find a lovely herd of 15 'pacas, plus...

...Great Pyrenees dogs who look after them, as well as cats and chickens roaming the premises.

Your overnight options include pitching a tent in one of the campsites or parking your van in a designated area.

Or, if camping isn't your family's optimal choice at the moment, you can always book a stay in the bunkhouse for a peaceful night's sleep.

High Country Alpaca Ranch is located approximately 80 miles southeast of Gallup via State Roads 602 and 36.

To reserve a spot for an overnight stay, see the alpacas, or just learn more about the ranch, visit their website or Facebook page.
