This New Mexico Airbnb Looks Like It Belongs in Morocco
This unique Airbnb that looks like Morocco offers an unforgettable stay, with traditional architecture, design, and sprawling desert vistas.
New Mexico and Morocco are actually not all that different in their landscape and architecture. Both feature vast deserts, rugged mountains, and architecture that emphasizes natural materials, such as adobe and stone. The two destinations are nearly 5,500 miles apart, but this Arroyo Seco, New Mexico, Airbnb that looks like Morocco will be sure to transport you overseas — and you won't even need a passport for it!
Less than 15 minutes from Taos lies one of the most unique Airbnbs in New Mexico. Designed by a renowned local architect, this Moroccan escape is located on six private acres and boasts furnishings and decor hand-selected in Morocco for a truly authentic experience.
The Best Features of This New Mexico Airbnb
As soon as you step inside and take in all the intricate details of this Airbnb that looks like Morocco, you'll feel like you've traveled to a land far away. The wrought-iron staircase, patterned textiles, and adobe walls bear a striking resemblance to Moroccan interiors. Large windows offer dramatic views of the surrounding mountains, allowing you to enjoy the scenery from anywhere in the room.
The home sleeps up to 11 guests. There are three bedrooms and a sofa bed in the main house, plus two additional bedrooms in the guest house. All the bedrooms feature Moroccan-inspired accents, including bold colors, unique patterns, and arched doorways.
Both the main house and the casita have two bathrooms, also modeled after Moroccan design. The arch-shaped shower niche is one of my favorite features in the entire home.
A full kitchen is equipped with modern appliances and other cooking basics, plus a dining alcove that will make you think you're in a Moroccan restaurant. The red walls, wooden double doors, cowhide rugs, and traditional urn hanging from a brick archway add to the ambiance.
Although the living room has a fireplace, there's a second one outside to warm you up on those chilly desert nights. The breezeway leads to a staircase that winds up to a rooftop deck overlooking the Taos Valley. And if you're in the mood for some relaxation or light activity, the property also features a hot tub and a bocce ball court.
