Indigo is the color of creativity, compassion, and wisdom. If you could apply those qualities to a place, this rural retreat would be it.
Welcome to Simply Indigo Retreat in Elwood, Nebraska!
The retreat is located in a renovated turn-of-the-century farmhouse.
The classic house retains its charming atmosphere, but the renovations have added modern conveniences and an updated look.
This is a retreat in the truest sense of the word. You can leave the whole world behind in this rural setting and enjoy a slower pace of life for a while.
It's meant to be a place to relax, recharge, and recenter. The retreat's website perfectly sums up its reason for existence: "Self-care is not selfish. You can't pour from an empty cup."
It's described as a "bucket-filling" retreat, meaning that it's a place to refresh your mental and emotional health.
The serene setting is perfect for concentrating on yourself and your own health without the distractions of everyday life. Relax on the covered porch, swing on the wooden swing in the yard, or sit and enjoy nature. You won't find any TVs here, but there is wi-fi.
You can book the retreat for just about any purpose: a couple's weekend away, a girls' day out, a bridal shower, or perhaps another special event.
If you just need a chance to take a breath and decompress, this is the place to do it. For a more active getaway, you can ride the two bikes that are available for guest use, do a little bird- or wildlife-watching, walk the labyrinth, or just play cards or board games.
Or you can attend a guided retreat full of pre-planned activities meant to reduce stress and increase emotional well-being.
Some of the activities you may find at a guided retreat include yoga, massages, and guided, retreat-specific activities.
Once a month, the retreat hosts a "discovery event."
These get-togethers provide the opportunity for guests to learn new things, explore their creativity, and visit with friends and strangers alike.
Some of the discovery events include creating crafts like handmade body scrubs or candles, exploring the benefits of essential oils, and listening to speaker presentations.
Experts of all sorts visit the retreat to share their knowledge and their passion at the discovery events. You'll walk away feeling refreshed - and you may even learn a new skill!
But Simply Indigo isn't just a place for activities.
If all you need is a quiet place to reflect, or maybe work on a creative project without interruption, the secluded rural location has just what you need.
When you're ready to turn in for the night, you'll find four bedrooms waiting.
They're all comfortable and beautifully decorated, and they're just right for lazy mornings or mid-afternoon naps.
The bedrooms contain two queen beds and two twin beds.
If you're renting the whole house for a group, you're welcome to bring air mattresses for more guests. It can accommodate up to 15 people for an overnight stay.
Overnight guests have access to the full kitchen, and day-use guests can pay an additional fee for access.
If you're not a fan of cooking, you can arrange for the innkeepers to provide meals and snacks. Breakfast is provided each morning for guests staying overnight. Have it prepared for you at the time of your choosing, or have the prepared food put in the fridge so you can cook it later.
This is one of those rare places where relaxation is valued as much as learning and playing.
Your whole group will enjoy the opportunity to unwind and appreciate the serenity of this special place. Kids are welcome as long as they are closely supervised and kept away from the livestock and farming equipment nearby.
This incomparable retreat is available for daily, overnight, or weekly rental (or more!). Learn more about the retreat, including how to book your own stay or special event, on its website or Facebook page.
