This Unique Montana Hotel Is Also An Art Gallery So You Can Explore During Your Stay
Hotel Arvon in Great Falls, Montana, offers a unique stay with historic charm, local art, and an on-site Irish pub.
You might not think of Great Falls as a premier destination in Montana—but that may be simply because you haven't discovered the historic Hotel Arvon yet. Nestled comfortably inside the oldest commercial building in the city, Hotel Arvon has a fascinating history. And between the cozy rooms, the on-site Irish pub, and the ever-evolving art gallery, it really does make a perfect staycation spot.
In 1886, Welsh Immigrant (and the original Celtic Cowboy) Robert Vaughn started planning the most advanced livery in the Pacific Northwest.
This brought forth The Arvon Block, which opened in June of 1890, just six months after Montana achieved statehood.
The Arvon Block sat empty for years and was actually headed for demolition before 2012, when the Cascade County Preservation Office funded a feasibility study to secure the building's future.
While renovation took a lot of time, it was worth it. This hotel is now a sought-after property.
The first thing you'll notice when you enter the lobby is all the magnificent local art.
The contemporary art gallery always features Montana artists, and the paintings are all for sale.
Each of the 33 guest rooms mix modern touches with historic details, resulting in some seriously cozy spaces.
Each room also features more artwork created by (you guessed it) local artists.
When hunger strikes, look no further than the on-site Irish Pub.
The Celtic Cowboy pays homage to Robert Vaughn, who was one of Great Falls' earliest philanthropists.
The food at the Celtic Cowboy is out of this world.
It isn't surprising that this was named Montana's Best Irish Pub.
The historic Hotel Arvon is truly one-of-a-kind.
Check it out the next time you find yourself in Great Falls.
