Usually, a barn is the last place that you'd want to spend the night, but this gorgeous barn in Callao is the exception. It has been restored and renovated into a bed & breakfast and you'll want to spend a night or two here.
Before Young's Lodge became a premier hunting lodge and bed & breakfast, it wore a couple different hats throughout history.
It once was and old tavern and mill. Many people passing through on the Overland Trail during the mid 1800s stopped at the mill to rest. Historians believed that Jesse James and his gang often traveled through here and used the mill to hide out. Once the railways came into play, less people came through this tavern and mill and it lost its popularity. It then became a barn and now, a bed and breakfast and hunting lodge.
The property is 320 acres large and sits near the Chariton River.
White tail deer are abundant near the Lodge, so many hunters come here to hunt. Native wild turkeys and pheasants are also not uncommon to see.
Visitors can rent by room or rent the entire space for themselves.
Each bedroom is decorated with artwork from local Kansas City artist, Nye Douglas Gordon.
The lodge is equipped with plenty of entertainment amenities.
In the main loft, you'll find a 55" flat screen TV, pool table, foosball table and even a Texas Hold 'Em card and poker table. They also have Xbox 360 and electric drums and guitars for guests to enjoy.
Enjoy dinner at the lodge by utilizing their fully-updated kitchen.
Breakfast is served every morning for guests who stay at Young's Lodge. Guests can also use the kitchen to make their own meals for lunch and dinner.
Enjoy live music outside the barn on special nights.
Grab a drink, some snacks and listen to a live band on the peaceful, secluded property.
