Missouri has a seemingly limitless amount of outdoor adventure offerings with its massive river systems, beautiful state parks, conservation areas and wildlife preserves.  If the idea of water activities and hiking and biking scenic trails appeals to you, but the idea of rugged camping and "living off the land" doesn’t, glamping is just the thing for you!

Glamping, or "glamorous camping" allows you to enjoy all the great things nature has to offer without having to actually sleep in it. Here are a few of Missouri’s ready-made camping options, but you can create your own!  All you need is a spacious tent, teepee, trailer or cabin with a nice, comfortable place to sleep, lots of food and beverages, and fun people to share the experience with!

1. Tree house cabins at River of Life Farms on North Fork of the White River

The beautiful and serene River of Life Farms offers several tree house cabins in the North Fork of the White River. They consider their location "the miracle mile of private, wade-fly-fishing for rainbow and trophy brown trout," and provides bank access exclusively to their guests. Cabins sleep between two and eight people comfortably.

The River Lighthouse is their newest tree house cabin and has a tremendous river view. The 1200 square foot cabin sleeps up to 6 people, has a king size bed, a queen size bed, and a sleeper sofa. Two private restrooms with whirlpool tubs allow you to soak off the day’s adventures in style.

2. Kozy Caboose and Deluxe Log Cabins along Historic Route 66 near Eureka

The Kozy Caboose at the KOA campgrounds near Eureka is perfect for the train lover in your family. It features a full restroom with a bath and shower, a comfy queen bed, a fold down dinette, a loft bed, a fridge, a covered porch and a TV. The caboose sleeps up to 4 people.

This campground also offers Deluxe Cabins with bathrooms that sleep up to 8 people, and one even has a tremendous view of Fox Creek.

3. The Outpost Cabins and Yurts at the Lake of the Ozarks State Park

The Outpost at Lake of the Ozarks features eight rustic log cabins for those interested in camping in luxury. The cabins were built in 1993 and upgraded in 2011, and each cabin features comfortable sleeping for up to six people.

Amenities include a wood-burning stove, electricity, a ceiling fan and lighting, air conditioning, and supplemental heating. Three of the cabins are even pet friendly for up to two dogs.

An alternate camping experience at Lake of the Ozarks State Park is its two yurts, circular structures with a fabric cover and a wooden frame. They sit on a wooden platform with decking and have a locking door, and provide three large windows and a dome skylight.

The yurts comfortably sleep 5 people, and include a log futon, log futon bunk bed, a dorm-size refrigerator, coffee table, lamp, air conditioner and heater.

4. Camper Cabins at Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park

The amazing Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park features six camper cabins that comfortably sleep up to four people. They are located off of Loop 2 in the park’s campground. They include a queen-size bed and a double-size futon. Although they do not have running water or restrooms, they do have electricity including heating and air conditioning.

The cabins feature a dining table, ceiling fan, compact refrigerator and microwave indoors, and a porch bench, picnic table, pedestal grill and campfire grill outdoors. There is a modern central restroom and shower house within walking distance for your convenience.

5. Log Cabins in Silver Dollar City’s Wilderness

For an outdoor adventure near to all the activities Branson and Silver Dollar City have to offer, stay at one of the cabins at Silver Dollar City’s Wilderness. They have truly rustic Pioneer Cabins, but for a more comfortable stay try one of their "Rustic Cabins." These actually feature a bathroom and shower, heating and air conditioning, microwave, cable TV, a small refrigerator and a grill on each deck.

Some Rustic Cabins also come with a kitchenette and some with both a kitchenette and a fireplace. Or you can stay in a loft cabin, that has the same features as a basic rustic cabin, but with a queen bed downstairs, 2 full beds and 1 twin.

6. Cabins at the Bass River Resort in Steelville.

Bass River Resort in Steelville offers Meadow View and Fairview Ridge Lodges, Cozy Cabins, Deluxe Cozy Cabins, Log Cabins and several Lodging Houses including an A-Frame House and a Hideaway House. With options that vary from small duplex units to large luxury homes, there is something for everyone from couples to large families or groups.

All units feature a kitchenette or full kitchen, at least two full sized beds, heating and air conditioning, and at least one bathroom with a shower. The larger sized Log Cabins and Lodging Houses have televisions, and all of Bass River Resort’s lodging units come with a fire ring, picnic table and charcoal grill.
