The Enchanting Treehouse In Mississippi That’s Straight From A Fairy Tale

Tucked away in a forest in Mendenhall sits an enchanting treehouse that is as rich in history as it is captivating. As if it jumped straight off the pages of your favorite childhood fairy tale, the magical dwelling is absolutely delightful. The Johnny Knight Treehouse is located along Highway 13 in the small town of Mendenhall.

Situated on a forest hilltop, the tree house is surrounded by southern magnolias, maples, and white oak.

Its secluded location deep in the woods only adds to its magic and allure.

Built in 1971, the enchanted dwelling is the creation of late artist and Mendenhall native Johnny Knight.

To bring his magical vision to life, Knight set massive cypress stumps in the ground and erected an octagonal home on top of them.

Over time, a tongue-and-groove ceiling, a stacked stone fireplace, hand-crafted doors, and a redwood bar and countertops were added.

Just as enchanting as the exterior, the interior includes features that could've easily come from the home's surroundings, such as wood floors, ceilings, and walls.

The rustic charm also includes stair railings made out of branches and a dining table fashioned out of a cypress.

Quaint and cozy, the tree house has all the amenities of a standard home.

And that includes a fully-functioning kitchen.

Featuring large windows in just about every room, the beautiful surroundings can be taken in from just about every angle.

Just outside the backdoor lies a spacious deck...but that's not all.

The deck extends to a swinging bridge, which leads to a viewing platform.

The elevated platform overlooks the 4.5-acre property.

Perfectly isolated, the only noises that can be heard are birds chirping and the rippling of a nearby creek.
