When spring rolls around in the Land of 10,000 Lakes - which, itself, can be a bit of a crapshoot (six weeks of mud and clouds, anyone?) - it's time to shake winter off our shoulders and venture out into the world. And there's no better way to do that than getting out and exploring all that our amazing state has to offer as it comes out of its seasonal slumber. While you're out there, you'll obviously need a place to stay, which is why we've picked out these seven Airbnbs in Minnesota that are perfect - and perfectly located - for a spring getaway in the Bold North.
1. Bluebells and bonfires.
Each spring, Carley State Park, in Minnesota's Bluff Country, explodes with Virginia bluebells and other wildflowers.
This bluff-top tiny home near Plainview and Carley State Park is the perfect place from which to launch your spring wildflower adventure.
2. Baby Animals in Brooklyn Park
Brooklyn Park is home to the annual Spring Babies Festival, a seasonal rite that's adored by families from all around. They come to see all the new baby farm animals and engage in some top notch agritainment.
If you're coming from out of the area, consider a stay at this charming four bedroom suburban home. It's only minutes from Spring Babies and is large enough for the entire family.
3. Shore lunches and shining stars.
There may not be a bigger deal in Minnesota than the annual walleye fishing opener, which occurs on the second Saturday in May every year. And one of the best walleye lakes in the state is Lake Vermilion, near Tower.
What better way to be prepared for the fishing opener than to post up on your own private island in the middle of a premier walleye lake? That's why we think this Airbnb is ideal for fishing opener weekend.
4. Peruse the ponies from Paddock Park.
If you're a horse racing enthusiast, you won't want to miss opening weekend at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, which happens every year in mid-May.
This gorgeous three-bedroom townhome in Shakopee is located just minutes from Canterbury Park. Valleyfair and Mystic Lake are also right in the neighborhood.
5. Lakefront and lady's slippers.
In June, lady's slippers, which include Minnesota's state flower, blossom all over the Northland. One of the best places to go and enjoy them is in the area of the Lady Slipper Scenic Byway.
And one of our favorite vacation rentals in the area is this lakefront beauty. Not only is it perfectly situated for getting out and seeing all the gorgeous orchids that come with late spring, it makes for a lovely lakefront getaway on the edge of the Chippewa National Forest.
Clearly, then, no matter what you look forward to during springtime in the North Star State, there are plenty of Airbnbs in Minnesota to suit your needs. Which adventure will you pick this spring? Let us know in the comments!
