You Can Pet Barnyard Animals at This Michigan Airbnb This Fall
Sleep among the trees and pet barnyard animals at this Airbnb in Grand Haven, Michigan.
“I’m going up to Grand Haven for the weekend” was a common phrase I heard growing up in Chicagoland. With its Caribbean-like beaches, tasty wineries, and lush forests, Grand Haven, Michigan, has been a favorite vacation spot among Midwesterners for decades.
A beloved warm-weather destination, Grand Haven is also perfect for saying goodbye to summer and ushering in the crisp autumn weather. Book a stay at the Green Acres Treehouse to reconnect with nature, befriend some farm animals, and take in the Michigan forests as they begin to change color.
The Green Acres Treehouse is a unique gazebo-turned-bedroom. Particularly well-suited for couples, the space features a double bed surrounded by large glass windows. If you weren’t all cozied up in your blankets, you’d think you were sleeping under the surrounding trees.
There’s a kettle and coffee maker for you to make your morning beverage with and enjoy on the private deck. On the deck, guests will find a seating area, a small table, and a wood-burning fireplace. It’s important to note that due to how high the deck is, the hosts prefer not to rent out this space to those traveling with children. Additionally, guests will find a few books and aesthetic decorations that truly make this getaway “Instagram perfect.”
This property is a semi-glamping experience. Guests will share a composting toilet with other visitors staying in an on-site tiny home. If you’d like to freshen up and shower, guests have access to a standard shower in the host’s main house during designated hours. Both of these structures are just a one to two-minute walk from the treehouse.
If you’re worried about the weather, don’t fret. Both a ceiling fan and a heater are included in the treehouse. Plus, you’ll find plenty of extra pillows and linens should you want a little extra padding. There’s no TV, so be prepared to enjoy the soothing sounds of the forest and farm instead.
My favorite element of the Green Acres treehouse is the barnyard animals. Goats, chickens, and cats call the barn home. The host even welcomes guests to pet the friendly animals, just don’t enter any of the closed-off pens. Note that the host has a friendly German Shepeard and a pug who freely roam the area. You’ll also find the host’s small garden.
Those who bring along their bicycles can pick up a bike path right in front of the main house. This route leads to both downtown Grand Haven and the beach. Other activities in the area include visiting Grand Haven State Park, exploring the South Pierhead Outer Lighthouse, and sampling local products at the Fox & Hen Winery.
If you're ready to celebrate the waning of summer and to ring in the fall season, the Green Acres Treehouse is a memory waiting to be created. Grab your best pal or partner and head to Grand Haven for an unforgettable autumn getaway. Plan yours now with Only In Your State's Dashboard itinerary planner.
