Set in Berkshire County, Lanesborough is a small town with roughly 3,000 residents. If you're looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway in Massachusetts, this is the perfect town to do just that.

One of the most unique rentals we found here in town is the Stone School Cottage. This historic abode was once a one-room schoolhouse and has maintained much of its old-fashioned charm.

Set on a horse farm along a scenic road leading to Mount Greylock, you'll be immersed in some of the state's most gorgeous natural beauty.

This 1,600-square-foot cottage was built as a schoolhouse in 1832 and served as one until 1950. Since 1998, it has been a guest house.

The cottage is two stories and has two bedrooms, one full bathroom, and can sleep up to six people.

Since the building is nearly 200 years old, it has a rather unusual layout. The old classroom, as well as the only bathroom in the house, is located on the first floor. There's also a trundle bed on this level.

The second floor is almost like a studio apartment with beds. It's also where you'll find the small kitchenette complete with a miniature stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishes, pans, cutlery, and a coffee maker.
