This Airbnb Cabin Is the Perfect Home Base for Maryland’s Best Hiking Trails
Nestled among the trees, this whimsical cabin also happens to be smack-dab in the middle of Maryland's best hiking trails.
Hiking in Maryland is such a rewarding experience that you could easily plan an entire vacation around it. That's especially true when you book a place like Trees Company, a treehouse Airbnb just minutes from Deep Creek Lake. The cabin is a destination in itself; with stunning views and a lofty among-the-trees location, there's really no need to leave it all. Of course, if you didn't venture out, you'd be missing out on some of the state's very best hiking trails.
Just minutes from the lovely Deep Creek Lake, Trees Company is a beautiful, blissful sanctuary in Oakland, Maryland. The cabin features three bedrooms, three beds, and two baths, perfectly suited for up to six guests. The space is a bit snug, but that only adds to the cozy, off-the-grid feeling you'll get when staying here. One of the things I love about this cabin is its kitchen; accents of wood and pops of color give it a natural yet whimsical feel. Plus, it's got everything you'll need to whip up a gourmet meal.
The main bedroom, known as the Treetop Suite, is positively luxurious with a king-sized bed and private balcony. The Birch Room has a queen-sized Sleep Number bed, and finally, the Fern Room is perfect for the kids. It's got a queen-sized bed plus a twin trundle for extra space. All rooms showcase beautiful forest views, really giving guests the feeling of being among the trees.
The charms continue outside, where amenities like a private sauna, six-person hot tub, and fire pit create the perfect atmosphere for gathering outdoors. After a full day of adventures, you'll love the chance to decompress in the sauna or enjoy quality conversation around the fire, recounting the day's activities.
And speaking of activities, there's a lot to do in the area. You'll be staying next to Deep Creek Lake, a 3,900-acre reservoir famous for its year-round recreation. To enjoy the best of the lake, be sure to stop by Deep Creek Lake State Park. The beautiful natural area showcases the stunning landscape of the Allegany Highlands, brimming with wildlife, stunning scenery, and activities. The most popular hiking trail is called Cherry Creek Loop. It's a 2.8-mile circuit trail considered to be moderately difficult. The trail is easy to follow, with a bit of rocky terrain and glimpses of the calming creek through the trees.
Another easy-to-love trail in the area is known as the Sang Run Bluebird Trail Loop. It's a 1.6-mile loop that's perfect for beginners or little explorers with expansive meadow views and wildflowers in the summer.
If I'm ever on the fence about booking a vacation rental, I'll check out the reviews, and the ones left by recent travelers are absolutely glowing. Here's one that outlines all the highlights of staying at Trees Company:
"[I] can't recommend this cozy cabin enough. Wonderful backyard with hot tub, fire pit, and string lights. The beds were super comfy and the kitchen had everything needed to cook a meal including a coffee bar. It's only 1/4 of a mile to the lake to put in kayaks or paddle boards and close [to] the state parks for hiking and exploring."
