The fishing here is completely unbelievable, with more than 132 species of fish.

There are both fresh and saltwater environments here that simply ooze with wildlife.

There are more than 35 species of amphibians and reptiles and seven commercial species of mollusks.

Perhaps most majestic are the birds that call this area home.

There are more than 300 species that call parts of this region home since the area serves as an endpoint for the Central and Mississippi Flyway.

You'll find yourself falling in love with the unique marsh environments found here, as three rivers (Sabine, Calcasieu, and Mermentau) find their endpoints here.

There are also easily accessible beach areas found here, with more than 26 miles to explore. The lodge sits near a tract of more than 750,000 acres of open-range coastal wetlands.

Historically, this region has always been home to people of the land, farmers, and fishermen who made their life harvesting the bounty here.

The lodge also offers eco-tours for those who want to get up close and personal with nature.

So I'm already planning my trip to Grosse Savanne Lodge, one of the most beautiful places in Louisiana.

It just feels like there is nowhere else quite like it.
