The Amazing Campground in Louisiana We Want to Visit All-Year Round

Even though you technically could camp all year round in Louisiana, I doubt you would want to. Spending a night in a tent in August sounds…terrible. Between the bugs and the humidity, I don’t know if I would last the entire night. Thankfully, the cooler temperatures of fall and winter make for perfect camping weather! Palmetto Island State Park is an amazing campground in Louisiana that’s perfect for spending a weekend camping. 

Palmetto Island State Park is an amazing campground in Louisiana tucked away on the Vermilion River. It’s a park that appeals to everyone, which is perfect for the whole family. 

Whether you want to spend your days exploring the hiking trails or embarking on an epic paddle trail, Palmetto Island State Park has got you covered. 

There are a handful of nature trails at the park. None of them are too extraordinary, they’re all less than a mile long, and they are also dog-friendly. Just make sure to keep them on a leash. Wildlife is abundant here, and you wouldn’t want your unleashed pup to have a snout-to-snout encounter with an alligator, a raccoon, or a snake. 

Camping at Palmetto State Park is different for everyone, so find an option that works best for you. There are 95 premium campsites at Palmetto State Park that include water, sewer, and electrical hookups. There are also primitive campsites available, and even a few backcountry campsites if you really want to get away from it all. 

Cabins are also available to rent, and they include basic cookware, towels, and linens. Just bring your own food and anything else you’d need. Two of the six cabins are ADA-compliant. All of them can sleep up to eight people, so bring the whole squad!

While you’re in the area, it’s worth your while to pay a visit to Avery Island. It’s less than an hour away, and you can take a tour of the Tabasco Factory, wander through the enchanting Jungle Gardens, and do some epic bird watching at Bird City.
