When it comes to bars, New Orleans certainly has its fair share, that's for sure. There's one bar so unique, so awesome, that you simply have to check it out.
You’ve probably seen the sign in the sky, you can spot it from just about anywhere in the city.
It's like our own little bat signal.
Located on the corner of Royal and Iberville Street, Hotel Monteleone opened in 1886.
Originally called Commercial Hotel, it changed to the name we know today after a massive expansion in 1908.
Aside from the building's history, the endless list of notable writers that were inspired here, and the haunted history that generations of guests and employees have experienced, there’s one attraction at this hotel that you have to see to believe.

The Carousel Bar
Be prepared to be amazed. You won't find a bar like this anywhere else.
Installed in 1949, the Carousel Bar’s 25 seats turn on 2,000 large steel rollers that are pulled by a chain powered by a horsepower motor.
It's the only carousel in the city that you have to be 21 to ride.
The details of this carousel are simply mesmerizing.
The hand painted chairs, the intricate details of the carousel top, the artwork on the walls, and the antique mirrors will all leave you in awe.
Don't worry, the carousel doesn't move very quickly.
It takes about 15 minutes to make a full rotation, so you won't have to worry about motion sickness while drinking.
Watch this video posted by the Hotel Montelone on their Facebook Page to see a cool time-lapse of the carousel:
Doesn't this look like so much fun?
The Carousel Bar is open seven days a week, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
You'll want to get there early to make sure you get a seat. Since there's only 25 seats on the carousel, they fill up quick!
