This cozy cabin in McKee, Kentucky, is near several amazing hiking trails, including the Sheltowee Trace Trail and Flat Lick Falls.
Are you searching for the perfect place to stay for an extraordinary hiking adventure? At the top of my list for a hiking getaway accommodation are a convenient location and the amenities to relax after a long day of hiking. I want to get to incredible trails easily and recuperate once I return. We've found the perfect home base for trails in Kentucky. Hemlock Haven is a small, peaceful cabin tucked in the trees of the Daniel Boone National Forest, home to several of the Bluegrass State's best hiking trails.
Hemlock Haven comfortably accommodates two people, with one bedroom and one bathroom. The quaint A-frame cabin sits on the shores of a small pond, where guests can see ducks and deer. Its outdoor spaces include a deck with rocking chairs, a fire pit area with Adirondack chairs, and a hammock. I can imagine having a hearty breakfast on the deck before a day of hiking and resting my legs in the hammock afterward.
The Airbnb's bedroom has a plush queen-sized bed covered in white linens. Its wooden plank walls create a welcoming and cozy atmosphere, perfect for a refreshing night's sleep. The cabin's bathroom has a walk-in shower with body soap, shampoo, and conditioner for guests.
Other amenities include a washer and dryer, a high-definition television, and fast Wi-Fi. With 253 Mbps internet, you won't have trouble catching up on email or reading an online newspaper. Of course, keeping your phone and laptop in a drawer for the entire getaway is also an option.
Hemlock Haven has a stunning kitchen outfitted with wooden cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and stone countertops. It has everything you need to make delicious meals throughout the day, including an electric stove, a microwave, a coffeemaker, a blender, and an ice maker. There's also an outdoor grill with utensils for guests' use. I think grilled hamburgers or fish sound like the perfect dinner after a day outdoors.
The cabin is minutes away from incredible hiking trails. The Flat Lick Falls Trail is an easy, 0.6-mile trail leading to a stunning 33-foot waterfall. It's also near part of the Sheltowee Trace Trail, a whopping 321-mile trail stretching from Morehead, Kentucky, into Tennessee. A 30-minute drive from Hemlock Haven takes visitors to the Pinnacles of Berea, a 7.1-mile loop trail with breathtaking views.
The Airbnb's location in the Daniel Boone National Forest is within an hour of many other hiking trails. The national forest, a hiker's paradise in Eastern Kentucky, has more than 700,000 acres and 600 miles of trails. There's something for every level of hiker, from beginner to advanced, in the forest.
The Red River Gorge Geological Area, known as heaven on earth in Kentucky, is part of the Daniel Boone National Forest and is about an hour from the cabin. The gorge has beloved trails like the Gray's Arch Trail and the Rock Bridge Trail, an unforgettable destination hike. The Chimney Top Trail is an easy Red River Gorge trail that's 0.7 miles long and offers stunning gorge views.
