If you're an avid camper then you know that it takes some advanced planning to book that perfect site. Luckily, there are dozens of wonderful campgrounds in Kentucky, so while there may be some highly sought after spots, you can always find somewhere to set up your RV or pitch a tent. If you want to check out the best waterfront campsites in Kentucky, be sure to plan ahead for a stay at Bailey's Point Campground. This scenic property sits on Barren River Lake near Scottsville and it is one of the best places to stay right on the water in Kentucky.
Bailey's Point is a large campground on Barren River Lake, located between Glasgow and Bowling Green.
As you can see on the map above, Bailey's Point sits right on the water and although it is very large, it's split into five sections so you really get that quiet, remote atmosphere at almost every site.
And speaking of campsites, there are several throughout the property that are right on the lake.
Both RV and tent sites are available and for a range of sizes and set ups. Some of these waterfront campsites in Kentucky almost jut out into the water, giving you amazing views, but also a lot of sun.
If you prefer shade, there are also plenty of waterfront sites that are wooded.
Each of the sections, A-E, have their own bath house, playground, and access to the water. This access varies section to section, so you'll want to do some looking at the map on the website linked below to choose your ideal site.
And if you want to see things in person, check out this very informative video in which Destination Campground gives you a tour of Bailey's Point and some of the best sites.
You'll see how many are actually on the water and also how relaxing the campground is, even when at capacity.
The access to the water is one of the best things about Bailey's Point, so if you have a boat, definitely take a closer look.
There are places to moor your boat so you can have easy access to it and not have to use a boat ramp when you want to get out on the water. It's also ideal for kayaking, paddle boarding, or swimming in the array of designated areas.
And after a day of outdoor fun, you'll thoroughly enjoy your lakefront spot as the sun goes down.
Relax in your favorite camp chair, build a fire, and watch the sun sink below the water at what many call one of the best campgrounds in Kentucky.
Waterfront campsites in Kentucky are fairly plentiful, but it's hard to beat the incredible views from the sites at Bailey's Point. Have you stayed at this massive campground in Kentucky? Have you snagged the perfect, waterfront site? Let us know in the comments!
