Here's a photo of the hotel in 1925.
The hotel is certainly full of history.
Photos in the hotel show its interesting past.
On August 21, 1863, William Clarke Quantrill and his 400 thugs attacked the town of Lawrence.
They rampaged through the town, burning it to the ground and killing around 180 men and boys.
Colonel Eldridge swore to rebuild the hotel, and he did.
It's believed that one of the ghosts in the hotel today is that of the Colonel.
According to visitors and staff, the hotel is haunted.
Paranormal activity occurs in many places all over the hotel.
From the fifth floor of the hotel, guests get a wonderful view of the town.
But, this floor is supposedly haunted.
In room 506, doors open and close by themselves, and lights turn on and off.
Several guests have reported that they've actually witnessed the appearance of ghostly beings.
Hotel housekeepers report seeing breath marks on mirrors they've just finished cleaning.
The elevator often stops on the fifth floor without being summoned.
Guests often feel cold spots, and staff hear footsteps, but can't see anyone around.
Air conditioning units turn on without human control, luggage is moved from one place to another overnight and guests hear other noises in their rooms.
