Pammel State Park is a 350-acre park located about an hour southwest of Des Moines, just outside Winterset.
One of Iowa's oldest state parks, it's a place of quiet beauty, with the Middle River flowing right through it.
The Middle River Ford is the centerpiece of Pammel State Park, providing a place for outdoor recreation and good, old-fashioned fun.
As one of Iowa's most winsome parks, it's a place you'll want to stop and stay awhile. And while there are some amazing campsites and accommodations here, if you're looking for a truly unique experience...
...you'll want to book a yurt at Pammel State Park.
This Iowa state park has two, 450-square-foot yurts that are open for reservations April through October (mid-November, weather permitting).
These yurts are glamping at its finest; equipped with electrical outlets, a functional kitchenette with a refrigerator and range, air conditioning, and an outdoor grill, fire pit, and water pump.
(Restrooms are provided at the park's nearby campsite.)
The yurts sleep up to eight comfortably, and feature a skylight so you can truly sleep beneath the stars.
As the sun sets over this beautiful Iowa park, prepare to be dazzled by the brilliant painted sky. Then head back to your yurt for the night.
Huddle up around the campfire and roast s'mores. Maybe tell a ghost story, if you're feeling brave. Gaze up at the Iowa stars.
A night or two in this cozy little yurt will be something your family will never forget. And at just $70/night, those memories don't have to break the bank, either!
And waking up to these views? That's priceless.
