This Charming Getaway In Le Mars, Iowa Used To Be A Grain Bin And An Antique Store

The Grain Bin Lodge and Retreat in LeMars, Iowa, offers a unique lodging experience in a converted grain bin with charming antique decor and natural surroundings.

With so many farms growing so much grain, you can’t miss the grain bins which are everywhere in Iowa and have been for a long time. And if pretending an empty grain bin was a castle hideout was a favorite game for you as a youngster, listen up, because now you can treat yourself to a relaxing weekend hideaway - in a grain bin!

Located in LeMars, Iowa, this 30-foot-diameter bin is much more than meets the eye from the outside and has undergone several transformations.

The first transformation from a working grain bin to a two-story antique store is a story in and of itself and was an adventure for the owners. Then this spring, they opened the bin-turned-antique-store up for lodging.

Sorry to have missed the antique sales in this rural farmyard a couple of miles east of Le Mars? No need to be, there are still charming antique decorations to enjoy as you slow down and rejuvenate at The Grain Bin Lodge and Retreat.

Downstairs offers seating, three tables for dining, a bathroom, and a kitchenette.

Upstairs, the cozy 500 square foot open loft is furnished with two queen beds and a full sized bed.

Outside there are seven acres of orchards and shrubs filled with birds and wildlife for you to enjoy watching as well as a fire pit and plenty of lawn space to spread out on.

The price per night is approximately $130 and check-in is between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. with no minimum night stay. Note that f you have children under 12 you might have to wait a few years before bringing the whole family.
