Nestled within the breathtakingly beautiful, 26,000-acre expanse known as the Harrison Crawford State Forest is a state park that's a step above the rest in terms of wonder. O'Bannon Woods State Park is a state park in Indiana that makes for an awesome day trip, sure, but if you really want to experience it, I strongly recommend camping for at least a night or two. Luckily, you can stay for up to 14 consecutive nights in a row, so you'll get plenty of time! Come check out the best campground near Corydon, Indiana for an awesome time outside.
O'Bannon Woods State Park is snuggled right up alongside the Ohio River in far south-central Indiana.
The park is 2,000 acres in size, making it not super-small, but not overwhelmingly enormous, either. It's the perfect escape from real life, if just for a little while.
Camping at O'Bannon Woods is a delight, to say the least - it's not just outrageously beautiful, you know.
It's also jam-packed with some truly modern, fun-filled amenities, making this campground in particular an excellent one for families and groups.
Some of these amenities include a nice, clean, sparkling blue pool (during the warm months, of course).
Water-based shenanigans aside, there is also an array of picnic tables with awesome views, a nature center, a duck pond, and more.
Fishing, boating, and hiking are also popular pastimes, with plenty of trails running like life-giving veins through the park.
It's an idyllic place, popular on the weekends and over holidays, but during the off-season, you might just get it almost to yourself.
On these quiet occasions, I find this campground is by far at its most peaceful. This sounds terribly obvious, but for some, it's all about community with camping. For me, it's usually about peaceful solitude.
All of O'Bannon Woods State Park makes for an amazing escape.
If you prefer a more community-based experience, show up in the spring and summer. For off-season delights and fewer crowds, check it out during the winter! It's still open, and everything is beautiful when covered in snow.
If you realize you somehow forgot to pack something (speaking of - check out our epic hiking trip packing list!), or if you prefer not to stay at the campground for the whole time you're here, be sure to check out the nearby town of Corydon, which is easily one of the cutest small towns in Indiana. This wonderful place might just be the best campground near Corydon, Indiana, and you'll see why as soon as you arrive.
