A Cozy Cottage Stay Near Shawnee National Forest

Shawnee National Forest is undoubtedly a destination for those seeking solitude amid forests filled with oak and hickory. The park's 289,000 acres also include wetlands, grasslands, and unique rock formations, canyons, and bluffs. It's truly a dream come true for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike! While this is a lovely day trip destination, how about spending a few nights in the forest for a more immersive experience? Nesher Cottage is a tiny, charming cottage near Shawnee National Forest, and staying here may provide the serene getaway of your dreams.

At only 280 square feet, the Nesher Cottage may be tiny, but what it lacks in space is undoubtedly made up for in its charming design. With 14 windows that let in natural light and offer views of nature, it feels much more spacious than you would expect. It is divided into two rooms: the main living space and the roomy bathroom. There's enough space and beds to accommodate up to four guests, but it may be more comfortable for a single person or a couple. Perhaps a relaxing and romantic getaway with your partner is in order?

The main living space has a full-sized bed and two twin beds, one of which is a trundle. These beds also double as couches during the day, and plenty of throw pillows make the space feel ultra-cozy. While you can't help but explore all that Shawnee National Forest offers during your stay, you can at least retire here after your adventures and relax while watching the Roku TV.

In the same room is a full kitchen with a fridge, a microwave, a gas stove, and, much to my surprise, in this tiny home, a dishwasher. There is a high-top table with four barstools for dining indoors, or you can take your meals outside at the picnic table. As far as design details go, I happen to adore the green cabinets and the orange and white floating shelves.

The second room of the house, the bathroom, is shockingly large and has a soaking tub for the ultimate relaxing experience. You can even gaze out the large window as you bathe, though there are curtains you can draw if you prefer privacy. In addition to the tub, there is a stacked washer and dryer for your convenience.

Look out one of the cottage's many windows or sit outside, and you'll be treated to pastoral views of fields and rolling hills. This scenery is so relaxing, but if you're up for an adventure, you can go for a hike, bike ride, or drive to nearby Lake of Egypt, Burden Falls, or Garden of the Gods. Both adventure and relaxation await on this getaway!
