6 Airbnbs Near Idaho’s Most Epic Waterfalls

These six Airbnbs near Idaho’s most epic waterfalls put you close to roaring cascades, scenic hikes, and some of the state’s most unforgettable views.

Idaho may not be known as home to hundreds of waterfalls like our neighbors, Washington and Oregon, but we still have some falls worthy of any bucket list. If you are like me and love to chase waterfalls, I recommend creating a waterfall weekend. Book a stay at an Airbnb near a waterfall trail in Idaho, hike and admire the views during the day, and then relax at night. There’s no need to worry about travel or extremely long days—you can simply enjoy time outdoors mixed in with pure relaxation. Even better, I have found six Airbnbs near some of Idaho's most popular waterfalls. So make your reservation, pack your hiking boots, and chase some waterfalls.

1. Riverfront Cottage - Bonners Ferry

alt
  • Nearby Waterfall: Copper Falls
  • Number of Guests Airbnb Sleeps: 4

Just one mile from the Canada/U.S. border, and situated along the shore of the Moyie River, is the Whitetail Cottage, a gorgeous Airbnb in Bonners Ferry. This is a postcard-worthy basecamp for a small group or family to explore northern Idaho’s trails, waterfalls, and pure natural beauty. This Airbnb features three bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, a gorgeous kitchen, and a homey vibe. Like other vacation rentals on our list, this Airbnb’s outdoor property is a highlight as you can relax in the large grassy yard, the covered deck with a hot tub, the nearby river, and in the thick trees.

This Airbnb is so good that you will not want to leave during your entire stay, but I recommend you do. The Copper Falls Trail is near the cottage, offers a short hike, and has fairly easy terrain. This waterfall is beautiful to chase year-round, but I love the summer months, when you’ll enjoy wildflowers along the way and green moss and vegetation surrounding the tall cascade.

2. Restored 1909 Train Carriage - Deary

alt
  • Nearby Waterfall: Elk Creek Falls
  • Number of Guests Airbnb Sleeps: 2

This Airbnb in Deary will require a short drive to Elk Creek Falls Trails in northern Idaho, but the drive is worth it when you get to stay in a restored 1909 train carriage. This unique vacation rental in northern Idaho isn’t large, but perfect for an unforgettable solo adventure or a couple’s getaway. This train car has everything you need for some relaxing time away, like a cozy living room, a kitchenette, a small dining room, and a bedroom. And while I love the rental's interior, there’s nothing quite like its outdoor space, complete with a hot tub, sauna, and incredible stargazing.

You will travel on State Highway 8 to the Elk Creek Falls Trailhead, where you’ll have a three-mile loop trail to conquer. Elk Creek Falls is one of Idaho's tallest waterfalls, featuring three distinct drops and incredible forest views. There are some inclines you'll need to tackle, but you’ll also find several benches along your way where you can sit and take a break if needed. If you are looking for even more hiking trails near Deary, Idaho, I recommend you head east toward Moscow. There are many beautiful options on this side of the panhandle, although they may lack a waterfall finish.

3. Green Ridge Getaway - Ashton

alt
  • Nearby Waterfall: Mesa Falls
  • Number of Guests Airbnb Sleeps: 9

There are dozens of Airbnbs near Mesa Falls, and you can choose to stay in a vacation rental closer to Island Park or Ashton. However, I love staying in Ashton as Island Park can become quite busy and extremely expensive, especially during the summer months. This cabin in Ashton is just a short drive to the Mesa Falls Trail and is much more modern than a traditional log cabin. But it’s packed with amenities and large windows that let in ample natural light.

My favorite area is the large deck where you can spend a few minutes slowing down, enjoying views of Henry’s Fork and Warm River, and listening to nature’s soundtrack. You might see wildlife grazing on the hill, and you can see stars twinkle brightly above you at night. This Airbnb is a bit remote, so you will have to drive to visit many attractions and activities, like Mesa Falls, but its quiet location is dreamy. It’s hard to find in our current world.

4. Canyon Rim Home - Twin Falls

alt
  • Nearby Waterfall: Perrine Coulee Falls
  • Number of Guests Airbnb Sleeps: 14

The Snake River Canyon in Twin Falls is home to hundreds of waterfalls (it is where you’ll find the largest of waterfalls in Idaho), so it only makes sense that we have several Airbnbs in this area on our list. However, this gorgeous vacation rental is near one of my favorite cascades in Magic Valley—Perrine Coulee Falls. The inside of this home is quite beautiful, spacious, and packed with features to ensure a comfy stay. There are seven bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, sleeping up to 14 guests, and you'll enjoy cozy seating areas, a large kitchen, and even an office if you need to work during your getaway.

But outdoors is where this property truly shines, as it sits along the rim of the Snake River Canyon, offering gorgeous views of the canyon and the Snake River. There is a hot tub and a heated pool (open seasonally), along with grassy areas for relaxing and enjoying the canyon below. Keep in mind, however, that because of the home's location along the canyon's rim, guests will need to sign a liability waiver.

Perrine Coulee Falls is near this Twin Falls Airbnb and is tucked into the Snake River Canyon. This waterfall is approximately 200 feet tall, and you can view it from above along the accessible and paved Canyon Rim Trail. Or, if you want a little more adventure, you can even walk behind the falls along the Perrine Coulee Falls Trail. You will need to drive to reach this trailhead off Canyon Spring Road, and while the trail itself is quite short—approximately 0.6 miles— it is steep, rocky, and a bit challenging.

5. Canyon Rim Home Overlooking Pillar Falls – Twin Falls

  • Nearby Waterfall: Pillar Falls
  • Number of Guests Airbnb Sleeps: 8

This Airbnb does not require a long hike to reach. In fact, you can view the popular Pillar Falls from above with a stay at this vacation rental that sits on the Snake River Canyon rim. The home itself is pretty traditional. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, accommodating up to eight guests. But the location and views are what make this rental stand out. The home sits on the rim of the Snake River Canyon, right above Pillar Falls. Even better, there’s a private hot tub where chasing waterfalls becomes a much more relaxing experience.

6. Snake River View Home - Twin Falls

alt
  • Nearby Waterfall: Shoshone Falls
  • Number of Guests Airbnb Sleeps: 11

Right across the Snake River and near Idaho’s most popular waterfall, Shoshone Falls, is this vacation rental designed for the entire family. It’s large and spacious, with four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, comfortably sleeping up to 11 guests. Inside the Airbnb near Shoshone Falls, you’ll find an open design, a fully-equipped kitchen, and plush bedding. However, don’t be surprised if you want to spend all of your time outdoors, as this home sits right next to the Snake River, offering gorgeous river and canyon views. There’s also a hot tub and fire pit to help you relax as you enjoy the scenery.

Make the short drive over to see Shoshone Falls in person and visit Shoshone Falls Park. This is Idaho’s largest waterfall and is actually taller than Niagara Falls back east (this waterfall is nicknamed the Niagara of the West, after all). At the park, you’ll find a few short trails that take you to viewpoints so you can capture the beauty of these falls from all angles. I recommend visiting in the spring if possible. This is when Shoshone Falls truly roars.

There is nothing quite like a weekend chasing waterfalls, and these waterfall hikes in Idaho and nearby Airbnbs are the perfect places to start to plan your upcoming adventure.
