You Can Sleep and Pet Animals at This Airbnb in Georgia
Pan for gold by day, pet animals by night. This Dahlonega Airbnb turns every stay into a treasure.
One of my favorite trips with my now late father-in-law was to Dahlonega, Georgia. It was just a short drive from his home, but it was the first time he’d ever been. I’m a rock-loving gal who grew up in Georgia, so I visited Dahlonega more times than I can count as a kid: field trips, day trips, and family outings to learn about this incredible Georgia Gold Rush town. One thing I’d never done, though? Made an overnight trip of it. That might change pretty soon, because somewhere along the way, I discovered an Airbnb that makes you want to extend your stay just to say hello to the alpacas, sheep, cows, and even the mini donkey.
FrogHill Mountain View Farm isn’t just an Airbnb, y'all, it’s a full-blown escape. Set on 25 acres of rolling Georgia mountains, the property offers sweeping 180-degree views, a half-mile running creek with a picnic table, hiking trails, and even an in-ground pool for summer lounging. There’s an outdoor kitchen under a pergola, a fireplace to gather around, and formal gardens that make you feel like you’re in a real-life storybook. The farm is also home to two Great Pyrenees, alpacas, sheep, goats, cows, and a mini donkey... so you can spend part of your day hiking and the rest just hanging out with your new furry friends.
Inside, the home is warm, inviting, and flooded with light from windows everywhere you look. The porch nearly wraps around the house, making it impossible not to stop and stare at the mountains. The kitchen has everything you need to cook like a pro—or, let’s be honest, grill burgers by the pool while someone else handles the dishes. There’s a washer and dryer, a wood-burning fireplace, and a garage apartment on the property for extra privacy. Entertainment comes easy with HDTV and premium cable, while thoughtful touches like ample towels, bed linens, and toiletries mean you can literally show up with nothing but yourself and still feel perfectly catered to.
Dahlonega itself is a gem. Often called “the City of Gold,” the town still brims with history from the Georgia Gold Rush while balancing a modern, charming vibe. You can wander the Dahlonega Gold Museum Historic Site to see what life was like in the 1800s or sip a glass at one of the local wineries nearby. Downtown is quaint and walkable, with shops and restaurants that invite exploration without the pushy tourist energy you sometimes get in more crowded towns. People here are warm, genuine, and somehow manage to make friendly eye contact feel revolutionary.
FrogHill Mountain View Farm’s location makes it easy to mix adventure and relaxation. It’s only 8 miles from downtown Dahlonega, 4.5 miles from the North Georgia Wildlife Park, and surrounded by trails and natural spaces that make you forget you ever owned a phone. You can spend mornings panning for gold, afternoons wading in the creek, and evenings curled up with a cup of coffee or a bottle of wine, listening to the goats chew or the alpacas shuffle through the pasture.
If you’ve been telling yourself you’ll finally take that Georgia trip, this is it. Visit Dahlonega, stroll through the Gold Museum, sip your way through local wineries, and stay at FrogHill Mountain View Farm, where every moment—from sunrise over the mountains to a sunset by the creek—is its own treasure. Because sometimes the best way to strike gold isn’t with a pan... It’s with a porch, some furry friends, and a view you’ll never forget.
